Goodbye Junior Year!

Well Junior year is over which means that I'm 3/4 done with my college career. How the hell did that happen? I suppose it's like the old saying says, "Time flies when you are staying up late doing artwork all the time, and getting minimal sleep."

Anyway, it occurred to me that it's been a while since I updated on here so I thought I'd post some of my pieces from this last year.

THOR
This one is actually from fall semester isn't perfect but it was a landmark for me since all of it was done digitally in Photoshop. It was sorta fun but I like the feel of actually drawing much more and I feel like I'm faster when drawing traditionally.
HELLBOY
This piece was a lot fun, mainly because I love drawing Hellboy! I started out with a pencil drawing and then "inked" and colored it on photoshop.

THE TEXAS OMEN
This was done to accompany a sample article which had to do with Texas' economy. Essentially talking about how Texas thought it was doing better than most other states during the recession, but on further inspection that they were having just as many problems. Hence mountain turning into a graph with a sudden drop. The piece is a mixture of pencil and photoshop and here is a link to the article if you feel so inspired to read it. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/07/opinion/07krugman.html

SQUID DESTRUCTION
Another piece drawn in pencil and colored on Photoshop. For this I had to pick an animal, a thing, and a mood all starting with "S".

HOW TO DESTROY THE CITY: A GUIDE FOR OVERSIZED MONSTERS

This one was fun and another pencil and photoshop. But it took a really long time to draw.

"HOW DID IT GET SO LATE SO SOON?"
This was a project where i had to design an image based on the above quote. It was done with pencil and photoshop. It was my final for the fall semester.

ONE SCENE, THREE MOODS
For this project I had to do three pieces which somehow connected. So I decided to do the same scene in three different moods. The first is very dull kinda like an indie movie, the second is very over the top dramatic, and the last is, I suppose over the top in the same sense as a ridiculous 80's action movie. I suppose this is also kinda a self portrait since I used myself and my friend as the characters.
SELF PORTRAIT
I love batman and guitar, and yes i did actually dress up and model for this...that is all.

Overall I learned a lot during my Junior year and I feel that I am progressing in some way with most of my projects which is always a good feeling. Over the summer I'll be busy doing more art in one way or another, and I'll also be making some comics for COPOUT and handing them out on First Fridays. More on that in about a week!
